SPIC MACAY, in association with IGNCA and The Hindu, is organising its 2nd International Convention at the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras (IIT-M) in Chennai from 8th to 14th of June 2014, where about 1800 participants will gather from all over the country and abroad to rededicate themselves to this voluntary movement. At this week-long event, over 300 artistes would be participating from different parts of the country.

Girija Devi (Hindustani Vocal), Dr. L. Subramaniam (Violin), Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar (Hindustani Vocal), Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt (Mohan Veena), Shri T. M. Krishna (Carnatic Vocal), Smt. R. Vedavalli (Carnatic Vocal), Vidwan Ravi Kiran (Chitraveena), Smt. Bombay Jayashri (Carnatic Vocal), Shri Adoor Gopalakrishnan (Film making), Vidwan T. N. Sheshagopalan (Carnatic Vocal), Smt. Alarmel Valli (Bharatnatyam), Smt. Anjolie Ela Menon (Painting), Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar (Dhrupad), Shri Margi Madhu (Koodiattam), Warsi Brothers (Qawwali), Kalamandalam Mohana Krishnan (Ottanthullal) Chancel Choir from Nagaland and performances of various folk forms. We would also be having intensives and workshops conducted by inspiring gurus and master craftsmen. National Conventions are the congregation of the people associated with this Noble Cause, who spend one week in a unique ashram-like atmosphere.
The Annual Convention is a unique experience where participants get to witness great artists performing classical music & dance, folk and theatre. Several intensives and workshops are organized where the participants learn the form from the inspiring gurus (inspiring Masters) for 5 days. The day starts at 4 am where the participants do the naad yog followed by hatt yog. Crafts village is one special feature of the convention where Master craftsmen sensitise the participants about various crafts for 5 days. Screenings of cinema classics include the great works be legendary film-makers like Akira Kurosawa, Satyajit Ray, Charlie Chaplin, Ingmar Bergman, Shyam Benegal, etc. Several talks by inspiring people and panel discussions are organized. The convent ions culminate with the over-night concerts.
SPIC MACAY Conventions are most awaited in the country by the youth and population at large. More than 5,000 people apply for this convention throughout the country and abroad. About 1500 people get the opportunity to be a part of this unique event. The participants stay on the campus, where the accommodation and food is organized by SPIC MACAY without any costs. About 300 artistes and craftsmen from various genres of music, dance, folk, theatre and crafts inspire the participants through their performances, intensives and workshops. The conventions end with the heritage walks to the places of heritage value in the city.
The Conventions have been organized in different cities of the country every year. The lodging and boarding is arranged by SPIC MACAY for the participants without any costs.
